Once your bitch has reached puberty or sexual maturity, she would enter her heat cycle every six months. It is found that there is irregularity in these cycles just like women. There is no need to be unduly worried about this fact as it is a normal phenomenon and most bitches find their regular cycles after some time. It may take anywhere between 6 months to 18 months for your bitch to develop regular heat cycle.

In the end, it is a common practice among breeders to let two heat cycles of a bitch pass before they try to breed her.
